Asset management and asset disposition are two different jobs
IT asset management (ITAM) is knowing what you own, where it is and what state it is in, for the whole time you own it. IT asset disposition (ITAD) is the controlled retirement of that equipment at end of life: collection, verified data destruction, and responsible reuse or recycling.
Most organisations in Ghana and Nigeria have neither properly. Assets are bought and deployed, the register drifts within a year, and retired equipment accumulates in a store room because nobody is certain what is on it or who may authorise its disposal. By the time an audit asks, the answer has to be reconstructed rather than reported.
We work at both ends. Our field teams maintain the asset register as work is performed, so deployments, moves and swaps update it rather than degrade it. Physical verification counts are run against your register on site, which is the only way a multi site estate stays accurate. At end of life the same serial numbers flow into a documented disposition process and come back as a reconciled report.
